Today's Special: Ouran High School Host Club (Live Action) EP 01 Recap

OMFG! I just watched it and of course it's not as good as the anime - which was equally well done as the manga. but  MY GOD! It's refreshing to watch.

RECAP EP 01

The episode starts with Haruhi the main character walking to school called Ouran Academy. She looks like a guy because of the haircut she has. Everyone in this school is described to be rich and taken cared of at any second of their day. This is shown with the available tea time in the library and the luxurious cars dropping them off to school. 

 

Haruhi tries to look for a quite place to study and ends up bumping into Mr. darkarts (forgot his name) in the halls. He warns her that if she were to continue walking she'll end up having an entirely new experience. Which she doesn't believe and continues on. She ends up at a music room.  

As she opens the door a beautifully brightened place was visible. And a group of guys wearing the school uniform show up behind her. They knew her name and everything but believed that she was a guy. The leader Sou has never had a guy enter their room (which is used as a host club) before and questions his likings towards men.

 

She (knowing that she's a girl) finds this absolutely ridiculous and backs up to his introductions of who is who. She then knocks out a vase which costs 8 million yen I believe. She wants to pay them back but clearly she can't (cause explained by Sou Tamaki during the introductions of each person, she's a commoner in a school of rich people). 

 

 

He then gives her the duty of being the host club's servant. The next day she goes out shopping for the host's materials and comes back with instant coffee. As she enters she has a glimpse of everyone doing their job. (Which is where I find the weird feeling, it just doesn't feel as smooth. They probably have never worked at a restaurant or something that needs you to please a customer before.) 

Heehee - She looks a bit funny 8)

The way they gesture is just slightly awkward and the way Honey-sempai is suppose to act just doesn't click with how large the guy looks. They should've gotten a younger actor. Although he's cute yet when he says cute things - it just doesn't work. 

Haruhi tries to escape after getting the stuff they ordered but (i forgot that guy's name but the one with glasses) guy stops her and tells her that she has no where to hide or run to because he has special people around the school that will just bring her back. He also black mails her with pictures of her in the library slipping, reading, sleeping... etc.

 

 

Everyone's amazed by the instant coffee that Haruhi brings back and tells her to prepare it. Because of this Tamaki's most often customer (his princess) runs off and says that all this change is because of Haruhi (in a whisper). 

 

Tamaki is slightly confused as to why Haruhi can't go home to study and she explains that her dad has to work and she doesn't want to bother him. Tamaki pity's her and changes his mind. She's no longer a slave but also a host. They remove her glasses to see if they can visually change her in any way and WHABAM. (glasses, hair, clothes and a few touches) she looks (still like a girl) but we should believe - like a guy! 

 

The very next day Haruhi's also a host. She gets welcomed by a lot of the girls because they are amazed by how harsh her life is on her. In the club she's known as the natural. Tamaki has also grown a liking towards her and doesn't pay attention to his princess.

 

Because of this Haruhi's stuff gets thrown out into the small pond at the school yard. As she looks for her things she is rejoined by all the other hosts in the club. The next day Haruhi is asked by Tamaki's princess. She tells Haruhi to leave the club and all that and says that Tamaki is only doing this because he pity's her. Haruhi points out that she's probably jealous so the princess picks up a cup of water and throws it on Haruhi but Tamaki blocks it. 

The girl runs out but Haruhi runs after her and confronts her. So the very next day the girl repays for her jealousy by buying 50 large boxs of instant coffee for the club. 

   

 

 

Tamaki also finds Haruhi's wallet and as she says thank you he drops it revealing that she's a girl. Apparently everyone in the club already knew except for him.

COMMENTS

Nice refreshing first episode but I felt like the development is a bit too quick. It's funny too But the acting could get better. Some parts seem very cheesy / not enough. Like they seem to be limiting themselves as to how cheesy they can be. Ouran is really suppose to be out there in my opinion. They just seem to have not put as much expression into it

But Kyoya (yes I finally remember the glasses dude's name) is BEAUTIFUL! I like as that role evil yet kind deep inside. :D He's the guy who played the main dude in the movie: How to date an Otaku! 

Also I love Mori sempai from the manga and anime but he's a bit too friendly in the drama. I wished he was as cool as in the anime or manga. But he was really cute when he found that fish in the pond while looking for Haruhi's wallet. There's a slight change from this drama than from the anime which has changes from the manga but it's not bad. If you're looking for something relaxing that doesn't need to work your brain this is the show! I'm looking forward to episode 02! :D
